LAS VEGAS — Several civilian members of a panel that reviews Las Vegas police use-of-force cases have resigned, including the co-chair, who says he's disappointed the sheriff let an officer keep his job even though the board recommended otherwise.

The board recommended in April that Jacquar Roston lose his job for a Nov. 11 confrontation that ended with Roston shooting 22-year-old Lawrence Gordon in the leg. Roston had responded to a domestic dispute involving Gordon, and police say the officer mistook a shiny label on Gordon's hat for a gun.
Clark County Sheriff Doug Gillespie instead imposed a 40-hour suspension as punishment.
Martinez tells the Las Vegas Review-Journal (http://bit.ly/16jzk0w ) Gillespie's decision disregarded the board's work.
Gillespie declined immediate comment to the newspaper.
